I have had the opertunity demo both the JVC and the PANASONIC. First off let me say that I am converting from the Canon camp to one of these two cameras. I've used the The XL-H1 and as not impressed at all. Especially for the price! Of the two cameras I have to say I am more drawn initially to the JVC. Mostly because of its proffesional features. The thing is built like a small ENG or VARI CAM. The picture quality is AMAZING! But I'm aprehensive because it is a JVC. The Panasonic on the other hand is like the 100A on steroids. At first glance it knda looks like a toaster(trust me you'll know what I mean when you hold it). I wasnt ever a big fan of the 100A although I've shot tons of stuff with it and the footage always looks great. I dont like the ergonomics of it. It always felt like a toy to me. Of the two image wise I do feel the JVC is slightly more film like. But the JVC only has one format feature wich is kinda lame. My heart is telling me to buy the JVC. But my pocket book is telling me to buy the Panasonic. I know I can get alot more jobs with it than with the JVC. That is a fact that nobody can debate. People want Panasonics for there shows. Even with my XL2 (which does have a better image than the 100A) people still wanted the panasonic. Name recognition is a big thing. If JVC would come out with a camera that would do both 1080i and 720P then maybe. But not till then.
